5 Tips for Managing Stress during IVF

Keeping a gratitude journal is definitely an excellent way to build a practice of appreciating the good things in one’s life. Each day, it is advisable to write down a list of the things that makes one feel grateful such as:

  • The day’s beautiful weather
  • The joy one feels when one is spending time with friends
  • The taste of one’s favorite food
  • The happiness one feels when the dog cuddles up next to oneself.
  • The way one’s partner makes one laugh

Tracking the many things that make you feel thankful can bring more joy into your life and help shift your attention away from the challenges of infertility.

Why reduce stress?

Stress is not very annoying. It actually does have a physical impact on the body. When one is stressed, the body does release a cascade of stress hormones. If one is chronically stressed over long periods of time, high levels of stress hormones can indeed contribute to health problems.

Stress reduction techniques can lower the levels of stress hormones in one’s body. Reduced stress levels can improve the odds of getting pregnant during an IVF cycle.
