Processed foods and associated oils and sugars do contain a high GI and are not good for the body. They elevate inflammation, affect hormone levels in one’s body, and negatively affect the immune system. Alcohol is a teratogen (substance or factor that does induce malformations in the fetus) and severely detrimental to the development of the fetus, thus it needs to be avoided at all costs.
