However, diaphragm contraceptive is not used properly by most of the users and so its effectiveness does come nearly around 88%. Diaphragm also means that its effectiveness does state that 12 out of 100 women get pregnant while using this birth control method. This is so as they do not follow the instructions and do not use it properly. While choosing diaphragm as a birth control method, it is important to use it every time a person goes for vaginal or anal intercourse. Using diaphragm whenever a person needs sex, increases its effectiveness by up to 50%. To increase the effectiveness of diaphragm meaning, it is better to use it before having sex and if possible insert the diaphragm inside the vaginal cavity before reaching one’s orgasm. It is also better to use a diaphragm contraceptive with spermicide also to raise its effectiveness. 

Spermicide is a kind of gel or cream which kills the sperm and prevent pregnancy. For best possible results, the diaphragm needs to be used with other birth control methods such as withdrawal (where the partner can take out before ejaculation) or Condoms. Making use of a diaphragm with condoms will also protect a person from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

How to use a Diaphragm?

It is very easy to use a diaphragm provided a person follows the instructions properly.   • When you have to put diaphragm inside the vaginal cavity, one needs to stand with one foot on the chair or you also simply sit along the edge of the chairs. An individual can even sit in a squat position to insert the diaphragm in. It is better to decide which position is most comfortable. 
  • Now, hold the rim of the diaphragm, fold it half and impel it far up and back into the vagina, putting the dome upside down. Make sure that the edge of the diaphragm is stuck behind the pelvic bone and one’s cervix is all covered.
  • Use of Diaphragm meaning – Putting it inside the vagina 2 hours before requiring sexual intercourse. One needs to put the diaphragm inside one’s vagina along with spermicide. In case the intercourse takes more than 2 hours to start, re-apply the spermicide, as it will not work for any longer duration than 2 hours.

Then leave the diaphragm in for at least 6 hours to get the best results. Do not leave it inside for over 24 hours. In case o wanting to have sex again, a person can make use of it to reapply the spermicide with the diaphragm.
