Masturbation and Male Infertility

Masturbation and Male Infertility

The question that often arises in one’s mind is whether masturbation causes infertility in men? The straight answer to this is ‘No’.

Masturbation is indeed referred to as the stimulation of one’s own genitals for sexual arousal. This does not in any way hinder the chances of fathering children. However, in case a couple is planning to have a baby, the male partner, does, of course, need to restrict his masturbation. This is because masturbation in men does lead to ejaculation and if one is planning a baby, one must converse one’s sperms to impregnate one’s partner.

When a man does masturbate till completion, he does end up ejaculating the semen. For a man who does masturbate more often will obviously have lower levels of semen in his ejaculate as compared to men who do not. Masturbating quite often will indeed bring down the quantity of semen per ejaculate and one will have to wait for a certain time period till it is actually restored.

Moreover, masturbating may make one feel tired and drained out and one might lose energy and the urge of having an intercourse.

There has been indeed a lot of research on the topic of masturbation and its relation with male infertility. These studies came back with mixed results, with data focusing on both aspects be it negative or positive. Some suggested that men should refrain from masturbating if does want to get a woman pregnant, but most of them voiced that masturbation cannot make a man infertile.

Another very common myth that is linked with male masturbation that it causes erectile dysfunction in men. This is far from being true. Masturbating cannot cause erectile dysfunctions. However, men who are rather habituated with continuous self-pleasure may at times find it difficult to attain orgasm with their partners. This can lead to some problems when it comes to actually start a family and having a baby.

To conclude, it is not true that masturbation does lead to infertility in men. But frequent masturbation can also lead to the problem that is related to conception. Limiting self-pleasure can do a lot to sort out these respective problems. But if the problem does persist and if one cannot get one’s partner pregnant even after one has refrained from masturbating; get in touch with the fertility expert without any further delay.

Does frequent masturbation affect male fertility?

Frequent male masturbation does not have much effect on one’s fertility.

Some data does show that optimum semen quality that occurs after two to three days of no ejaculation. But other research does suggest that men who have normal sperm quality do maintain normal sperm motility and concentrations even with daily ejaculation.

Finally, having sexual intercourse with ejaculation several times a week will indeed maximize one’s chances of getting one’s partner pregnant, whether one masturbate or not.

Manual sexual stimulation does have its impact and of course as far as fertility is concerned, the latter does not get affected in any way.
