Putting Myth of Bed Rest after IVF to Rest

Migrating to SAP Success Factors

One fears that the embryo will fall out and that is seen among several couples who undergo IVF treatment. These sorts of beliefs are not true and couples do require to be counseled well. It is better to undergo the treatment after one has been advised properly by the physician and all doubts and fears are clarified properly.

What do the IVF couples need to know about embryo fixation?

The couples need to be made aware of the fact that the human body is indeed made with great precision and that the embryo does get transplanted in the uterus in a manner that it cannot come out.

It is essential for the woman undergoing the treatment to rather keep herself healthy and also happy during the whole procedure. She needs to avoid the stress that could affect the IVF procedure. In fact, the day that the embryo is transplanted into the uterus of the woman that day itself she walks out of the clinic without much difficulty.

Staying on the bed too long can cause much depression. Usually, elderly women who do not know much about IVF treatment recommend bed rest to women who are pregnant.

What do doctors recommend after IVF treatment?

Doctors advise the woman to get back to their routine work after a period of 3 days time after the embryo transplant. Many women patients worry that the embryo will fall out in case they walk as it is artificially inserted.

Walking, running, coughing as well as sneezing do not in any way affect the implanted embryo. In fact, enforced bed rest can have a very unhealthy effect on the patient. Being forced to lie down on the bed when one is well can be demoralizing. One tends to think a lot when lying on the bed. No doubt, some doctors do recommend bed rest but on the whole, it is not very essential.

Activity does not impact the embryo negatively. Implantation is indeed a biological process, which is not affected by the external activity. Patients take it easy for 48 hours by staying at home after the embryo transfer; thereafter they resume work. There is much difference between transfer as well as implantation. Embryo transfer is rather a simple mechanical procedure, whereas implantation is a complex biochemical event.

It is but quite obvious that one need not go in for bed rest after undergoing embryo transplantation via IVF. One can be active and carry on with their chores as usual. One can walk, run and need not worry that the embryo will fall out of the womb. One can definitely go in for IVF without having to fear that after the procedure they will be confined to bed. After all being confined to bed can cause much depression and discomfort as others have to attend to a person.
Every woman after marriage desires to have the child at home and those couples who are unable to conceive would definitely like to have the child around.
