What is IVF? Basics on In Vitro Fertilization Treatment

Top IVF clinics in India treat infertility using the latest technology and the pregnancy rate is high. The best IVF hospitals in India also are well equipped to deal with such health issues.

IVF means In Vitro Fertilization and is a part of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). The IVF Process happens to be a procedure of fertilization via retrieved eggs, sperm, and then physically mixes an egg and sperm in an IVF laboratory. The embryos, and the fertilized eggs, infiltrate the uterus.

Patients can visit top IVF clinics in India to overcome infertility.

Step 1: Day 1 of the IVF treatment period

Generally, the first day of the IVF treatment cycle is day one of your period, however, every patient’s body is different from one another. Your IVF doctor helps know how to recognize day 1.

Step 2: Ovaries stimulation

The stimulation stage begins from day 1. In a common monthly cycle, the ovaries commonly generate one egg. Medication has to be taken for 8 to 14 days to give a better atmosphere to the follicles in one’s ovaries (where eggs reside) to generate more eggs.

The IVF doctor will prescribe medicines depending on treatment and body which is usually in the form of injection.

Step 3: Egg retrieval

Egg retrieval is a process whereby the eggs are extracted from the ovaries. Local anesthesia is given to perform the egg retrieval process easily.

The fertility doctor uses advanced ultrasound methodology to insert a needle inside every ovary. It is a very sensitive procedure and can be performed by experienced experts. The eggs in the ovaries cannot be seen via the naked eye as eggs are in the form of fluid inside the follicles inside one’s ovaries. The expert takes out fluid from the follicles, as they appear to have developed enough to form an egg internally.

After this process, the patient requires half an hour for recovery. It is possible to walk on one’s own although taking support from a partner or relative is okay. Avoid driving immediately after the process as it is difficult to do so.

Best IVF hospitals in India are well equipped to treat infertility.

Step 4: The sperm

If thinking of fresh sperm, the male counterpart need to provide a fresh sperm sample in the morning at the time of egg retrieval. In the case of frozen eggs, then the expert will restore it in the lab.

Step 5: Fertilization

The fertility doctor will provide retrieved eggs to the scientists that are still in the form of a fluid (inside the follicles of the ovaries). The scientists will indeed inspect the eggs in the fluid to eliminate them.

The fertilization process of eggs has to be fast. The eggs, as well as the sperm, are mixed in the lab. Then eggs and sperm identify each other and fertilized successfully similarly in the female body.

Step 6: Development of Embryo

If the sperm fertilizes the egg, it becomes an embryo. When the egg is fertilized by sperm, it is referred to as an embryo. The scientist keeps the embryo inside a particular incubator, where the chances of development and growth are favorable.

The scientists take care of embryos for nearly 5-6 days. The embryo implantation at the blastocyst transfer stage inside the woman’s uterus increases the possibility of pregnancy.

Stage 7: Embryo transfer

The developed embryos are prepared to insert into the uterus.

The fertility attendant will inform what to do next.

The process of embryo transfer is indeed an effortless procedure, as it will hardly take 5 minutes. Anesthesia is not required.

Step 8: The concluding blood test

The conduct of blood test nearly 2 weeks after the embryo transfer to inspect the hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in one’s body. The IVF surgeon or fertility expert will indicate the exact time of the blood test, as it differs from patient to patient.
