What to expect from an IUI treatment?

What to expect from an IUI treatment?

IUI treatment in India has much sought after as it is result oriented. IUI clinics are well-equipped and experts provide the required treatment. It is worth visiting these clinics.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a sort of artificial insemination and is a procedure for treating infertility. People do opt for IUI treatment in India.

Sperm that have been rather washed and concentrated are of course placed directly in one’s uterus around the time one’s ovary releases one or more eggs to be fertilized.

It is hoped that via intrauterine insemination, the sperm swims into the fallopian tube and also fertilizes a waiting egg, resulting in pregnancy. Much depending on the reasons for infertility, IUI can be rather coordinated with one’s normal cycle or with fertility medications

A couple’s ability to become pregnant depends on several different factors. Intrauterine insemination is made used of most often in couples who have:

  • Donor sperm – For women who require using donor sperm to get pregnant, IUI is often used to achieve pregnancy. Frozen donor sperm specimens are rather obtained from certified labs and then thawed before the IUI procedure.

What to expect from an IUI treatment?

  • Unexplained infertility – IUI has often been performed as in fact a first treatment for unexplained infertility along with ovulation-inducing medications.
  • Endometriosis-related infertility – For infertility related to endometriosis, making use of medications to obtain a good-quality egg along with performing IUI is often the first treatment approach.
  • Mild male factor infertility (sub-fertility) –The partner’s semen analysis, being one of the first steps in the medical assessment of infertility, can show up as below-average sperm concentration, weak movement (motility) of sperm, or rather abnormalities in sperm size as well as shape (morphology). IUI can indeed overcome a few of these problems as preparing sperm for the procedure does help separate highly motile, normal sperm from those of lower quality.
  • Cervical factor infertility – One’s cervix, at the lower end of the woman’s uterus, does provide the opening between one’s vagina and uterus. The mucus produced by the cervix at the time of ovulation does provide an ideal environment for sperm to travel from one’s vagina to the fallopian tubes. But, if one’s cervical mucus is too thick, it may impede the sperm’s journey. The cervix itself may also tend to prevent sperm from reaching the egg. Scarring, caused by a biopsy or other procedures, can mean the cervix can become thick. IUI bypasses one’s cervix, depositing sperm directly into the woman’s uterus and increasing the number of sperm available to meet the awaiting egg.
  • Ovulatory factor infertility – IUI can also be carried out for women who are suffering from infertility that has been caused due to problems with ovulation, including as well an absence of ovulation or a reduced number of eggs.
  • Semen allergy – Rarely, an allergy to proteins in semen can lead to infertility. Ejaculation into the woman’s vagina does cause redness, burning as well as swelling whereby the semen contacts the skin. A condom can indeed protect the person from the symptoms, but it also does prevent pregnancy.

Why is IUI performed?

People prefer IUI for several reasons, such as infertility issues, or as a reproductive option for same-sex female couples or females who wish to have a baby without a partner, using a sperm donor.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) may be made use of when these conditions are present:

  • Cervical mucus problems or other problems with one’s cervix. Low sperm count or perhaps other sperm impairments.
  • The usage of donor sperm.
  • Ejaculation or erection dysfunction.
  • Semen allergy.
  • Unexplained infertility.

Does IUI work?

The success of IUI does vary depending on the underlying cause of infertility. IUI does work well in people faced with unexplained infertility, and people with cervical mucus issues or issues with ejaculation. There are certain conditions such as fallopian tube disorders, endometriosis, or severe sperm impairment where IUI will not work well. Treatments such as IVF (in vitro fertilization) may work better for these issues.

Conclusion

IUI clinics have the required infrastructure and patients can expect good results.
